Upregulation of opioid receptors as a translation strategy to improve opioid analgesia
Speaker: Li-Yen Mae Huang, Ph.D.                    Mason Guest Distinguished Professor          Dept of Neuroscience and Cell Biology          University of Texas Medical Branch          Galveston, Texas
Dr. Huang received her Ph.D. training in the State University of  New York.  She has worked in several world-distinguished insti- tutions including Mayo Clinic and NIH. She is now Mason Guest  Distinguished Professor in the Department of Neuroscience and  Cell Biology, University of Texas Medical Branch.     Dr. Huang's major research interest is to understand the mo- lecular and cellular mechanisms of chronic pain. The focuses of  her studies are to determine plastic changes in afferent signal- ing of DRG neurons following nerve or inflammatory lesion, to  understand the communication between the cell bodies of sen- sory neurons and their surrounding satellite glial cells in DRGs,  and to design an effective genetic approach for the treatment of  chronic pain.
