Introduction:

Dr Oliver Cilelli received his PhD training in Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich in 1979 and now is the professor and Chair of the department of pharmacology in the University of California, Irvine . His research focuses on identifying and studying novel molecules which mediate synaptic transmission, as well as using this information to treat human diseases. Dr Cilelli has 29 patents issued and has published a large number of research papers and reviews in distinguished scientific journals such as Nature, Science, PNAS and so on. He has also won a number of rewards, such as the Athalie Clarke Research Award and the NARSAD Distinguished Investigator Award. In 2004, he was interviewed by Nature Drug Discovery as one of the 20 world’s leading experts on GPCR research (Nature Drug Discovery 3: 575-626).
