报告人简介：

　　Yimin Zou graduated from Shanghai Fudan University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Genetics and then was selected by the CUSBEA Program (China and United States Biochemistry Examination and Application Program). He received Ph. D. from University of California, Davis and San Diego, in 1995. After a postdoctoral fellowship at University of California, San Francisco from 1996 to 2000, he became Assistant and Associate Professor at the University of Chicago from 2000 to 2006. He moved to University of California, San Diego in 2006 and achieved Full Professor in 2011. He was vice Chairof the Neurobiology Section at UCSD from 2012-2014 and became the Chairin July 2014.

　　

　　The Zou lab studies molecular and cellular mechanisms of neural circuit development. He is a leader in the field of axon guidance and spinal cord injury. He pioneered the discovery that morphogens, such as Wnts, are important axon guidance molecules that control the direction of growth of central nervous system axons and their topographic organization. He also made the original discovery that upon spinal cord injury the Wnt guidance system is reactivated in both the ascending proprioceptive sensory axons and descending corticospinal tract axons and inhibits the regeneration of these axons. He will talk about the latest progress on how cell polarity signaling pathways mediate growth cone guidance and how enhancing axon plasticity can promote functional recovery after spinal cord injury. Yimin Zou’s work has been published in Nature, Science, Cell, Neuron, Nature Neuroscience, Developmental Cell, PNAS and Journal of Neuroscience . His review articles were published in Annual Reviews in Neuroscience, Cold Spring Harbor Perspectives in Biology, Current Opinion in Neurobiology, Current Topics in Developmental Biology, Trends in Neuroscience and Neuron .

　　

　　Yimin Zou was the recipient of the Schweppe Foundation Career Development Award, March of Dimes Basil O’Connor Starting Scholar Research Award, Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow Award and W. M. Keck Foundation Research Achievement Award. He serves on Medical Advisory Board of HeadNorth Help & Hope for Spinal Cord Injury Survivors, Board of Directors of Ray Wu Memorial Fund and Chinese Biological Investigators Society (CBIS). He also severs as regular and ad hoc members of NIH study sections and a number of other funding agencies.
